Natalie C. Sandy is an 14 year veteran in the field of intellectual & developmental disabilities. Natalie has held positions as a Direct Service Professional, Assistant Residential Manager and Residential Supervisor at agencies such as YAI/ National Institute for People with Disabilities. She is currently the Recreational Program Coordinator for Community Mainstreaming Associates.
As an advocate in the field her focus is on therapeutic recreation and empowerment.
Natalie has received awards as well as a featured profile in both the Queens Chronicle and New York Newsday for her work with the IDD population. Natalie started a community based program in nassau county long island called CMA Recreational Programming to encourage individuals to be more active an involved in what is happening in their communities as well learn about other cultures through recreation.
This four time New York State Title holder proudly advocates on behalf of developmentally disabled through her platform of developmental disability awareness. She is honored to support the campaign against the R word & the Special Olympics of New York. She has even braved the icy cold Staten Island water to Polar Plunge to raise money for the athletes of the Special Olympic.
Natalie wears many hats. In addition to advocacy work she is also a Social Entrepreneur.
